Hello!
I am an Assistant Professor of Spanish Linguistics in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies at the University of Florida. My area of expertise is Spanish morphosyntax within a generative framework; specifically, I work on argument and event structure, dative arguments and Romance se. I am also interested in language acquisition (L1, L2, Ln), bilingualism and foreign language instruction.
I am originally from Avilés, in the Principality of Asturias (Spain). I received my BA in English and American Studies from the University of Oviedo, where I also pursued an MA in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. I obtained an MA degree in Hispanic Studies and Comparative Literature from the University of Kent in Canterbury (UK). Finally, I obtained my doctoral degree from the University of Arizona, where I majored in Hispanic linguistics (Department of Spanish and Portuguese), and minored in second language acquisition and teaching (SLAT) and linguistics (Department of Linguistics).
